Any organisation’s effectiveness depends upon the involvement of its members.  We all have a strong interest in our individual clubs, however, real strength is in being united under the Federation’s banner.  This gives us a strong voice with government and its agencies.  Your attendance at the AGM is central to this and is appreciated”.                             Garry Jackson (President, FoMC)

The 30th Anniversary Celebrations of the NZ Federation of Motoring Clubs Inc. will be held on Saturday 17 May 2025, and the Annual General Meeting on Sunday 18 May 2025, commencing at 10:30am at the Sudima Hotel, Christchurch Airport.

We especially encourage all member clubs in close proximity and “the clubs of ’96” to attend both events.

Please also register as early as you can, as this will be particularly helpful with planning.

30th Anniversary Celebrations

The 30th Anniversary celebrations comprises two activities on Saturday 17 May 2025:

1:00pm (tbc) Visit Auto Restorations, the internationally renowned and multi award-winning restoration business.  We will be hosted by George Kear, Chief Operating Officer.  A return bus will provide transport between Sudima Hotel, Christchurch Airport and Auto Restorations.

6:00pm Anniversary dinner and celebrations at the Canterbury Vintage Car Club, Macleans Island.  Again a return bus will provide transport between Sudima Hotel and the VCC clubrooms.

Previous Executive members will present interesting stories on the Federation in the early years.

The after-dinner guest speaker is Allan Dick, self-professed petrol head, founding Editor of NZ TODAY, CLASSIC DRIVER and DRIVER magazines. And before that autoNEWS magazine. He was also radio talkback host of Radio 4XO Dunedin, Radio Avon Christchurch and Radio Pacific nationwide.

Annual General Meeting

10:30-11:00: Welcome (Garry Jackson, President, FoMC)

11:00-12:00: A special guest speaker, still to be finalised.  We will advise all member clubs when the guest speaker is confirmed

1:00-3:00pm: Annual General Meeting, including ratification of new Constitution and proposed new Membership subscription rates that will allow the Federation to improve our operating efficiency and achieve our planned goals.

(scroll to the “Bookings” section below to register online)

Lunch (incl. morning & afternoon tea) is $79.00 per person
The increase this year is close proximity to the airport, making arrivals and departures easier for delegates flying in.
(FoMC bank account for lunch payment will be included in your registration pending email)

Notice of Motion: FoMC Constitution

The FoMC constitution has been updated, meeting the requirements of the Incorporated Societies Act (2022) and the future of the Federation.  This is advance notice that a motion will be presented replacing the current constitution. We thank  Parry Field Lawyers with their assistance with the update to ensure it fully complies with the Act.  It has also been reviewed and ratified by the FoMC executive.   We have also taken the opportunity to modernise some areas  (such as allowing email voting), and have added a section on Associate membership. Otherwise, the constitution remains similar to the outgoing version.

The draft constitution can be read here.

Membership Subscription Review

The current membership fee structure doesn’t meet our current operating costs due to increased travel costs for meetings with Ministers and Agencies.  Technology costs have substantially increased over the last couple of years.  Additional funding will also be required for upcoming projects such as recognising the sector (moving monuments) by the Ministry for Heritage and Culture (similar to the Historic Places Trust) and working with Industry Training Organisations and MBIE regarding specialist crafts.

We will soon share the proposed new fee structure here, and it will be presented as a Motion at the AGM.
